THE YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY Formed in 1881 from The 51st. (2nd Yorkshire West Riding, The Kings Own Light Infantry) Regiment. (1st Battalion) & The 105th. (Madras light Infantry) Regiment. (2nd Battalion) Nickname:- "The Koyli's"

THE DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY Formed in 1881 from, The 68th. (Durham Light Infantry) Regiment (1st Battalion) & The 106th Bombay Light Infantry Regiment. (2nd Battalion). Nickname:- "The Faithful Durham's".

In WW1 The Regiment raised 42 Battalions. Officers & Men were awarded Six Victoria Crosses. The Regiment suffered 12,530 casualties.

 

 

THE NORTHAMPTONSHIRE REGIMENT Formed in 1881 from The 48th. (Northamptonshire) Regiment of Foot (1st Battalion) & The 58th. (Rutland) Regiment of Foot (2nd. Battalion). Nicknames :- "The Black Cuffs" & "The Steel backs".

 

 

THE ESSEX REGIMENT Formed in 1881 from The 44th. (East Essex) Regiment of Foot (1st Battalion) & The 56th. (West Essex) Regiment of Foot. (2nd Battalion). Nicknames:- "The Two Fours", "The Little Fighting Fours", "The Pompadours" & "Saucy Pompeys.

 

THE WILTSHIRE REGIMENT Formed in 1881 from The 62nd. (Wiltshire) Regiment of Foot (1st. Battalion) & The 99th. (Duke of Edingburh's) Regiment of Foot. (with Militia Battalion) (2nd Battalion). Nickname :-"The Springers".

In WW1 the Regiment raised 10 Battalions, The Regiment won one Victoria Cross. The Regiment suffered 5,200 casualties.
