JT 14 A remarkable
photograph of eight WW1 Sergeants of The Durham Light Infantry. Company
Sergeant Major John Chew Robinson is seen here seated, extreme right, middle
row. At least four of these soldiers (including) John Robinson appear to be
wearing ribbons (left breast) for gallantry awards. Visible also are
"wound stripes" (small gold coloured, vertical stripes on lower left
sleeve). Two of the Sergeants have three "wound stripes", and the
soldier seen lying on the ground and to the right has no less than four! As
C.S.M. John Robinson is seen to be wearing a medal ribbon for the Military
Medal, this photograph would date after November 1916.
