TINWELL (RUTLAND) WAR MEMORIAL

This memorial is unusual in the fact that it honours both the fallen, and the surviving service personel of Tinwell from both WW1 and WW2. However, the names of the fallen are clearly marked.

The memorial is fashioned as the pillars of the Church gates. The plaques that are set into the outer sides of the gate pillars list the names of the WW1 servicemen. The plaques on the Church side of the pillars record the WW2 servicemen.

The transcriptions that Keith made at Tinwell are as follows.

Written into the the top plaques of both outward facing pillars.

"Roll of Honour, Officers and men of this parish Who served in H.M. Forces during The Great War, 1914-1918 "
