Please contact Pieta James at :- jamesies@austarnet.com.au This photograph is of a group of soldiers of the WW1 5th Battalion, THE BUFFS (EAST KENT) REGIMENT. The photograph was almost certainly taken in India between October 1914 and July 1917. Pictured 3rd from the left (middle row) is Pieta's Great Uncle PRIVATE T/240901 EDWARD FRANK BRUNGER of the 5th Buffs. Edward was from Boughton, near Ashford, Kent, England and had enlisted at Ashford. Sadly, Edward died in India on the 6th August 1917. None of Edward's comrades seen in the photograph have been identified. Can you help with any further information please?

Please contact Lynne Cox at:- lynnecox@lecox.freeserve.co.uk This great portrait of a British Soldier was sent in by Lynne in the hope that the young man seen in the photo can be identified. The soldier is seen to be wearing the Scarlet Tunic of the British Infantry and he was almost certainly of the LEICESTERSHIRE REGIMENT. He was wearing the cloth badge of the qualified marksman (lower left sleeve) and an unknown medal.Lynne would appreciate receiving any information what ever.
