This photograph is one of a very mixed group of WW1 servicemen who were recovering from their injuries at THE GRANGE at WORTHING, SUSSEX, ENGLAND in 1915. My Great Uncle SIDNEY ALLEN of the LEICESTERSHIRE REGIMENT is front row, third from the right.

But WHO were his comrades?

This WW1 photograph depicts Corporal Kent of the 1/4th Battalion the Leicestershire Regiment. (Here he is seen using a periscopic rifle somewhere in the Ypres area.) Does anyone have any information for Corporal Kent ? I believe that I may be able to identify the soldier standing behind the Corporal , but I am awaiting proof of this.

Photo Leic 3 I have included this photo as it is possible that some visitors to this site who have an interest in the LEICESTERSHIRE REGIMENT, may not be familiar with the Pre World War One "Red" uniform.

This photograph dates from 1904, this is my Grandfather WILLAIM THOMAS CAPEWELL and was a Private of the 1st. Battalion the Leicestershire Regiment 1904 - 1907. He was then recalled to the 3rd. battalion in 1914. Please Contact Roger Capewell at >
