Photo BRST 1 Please contact SHARON BREWSTER at :- sharonbr@nbnet.nb.ca

This photograph was sent in by Sharon, who lives in Canada. The image is very much a puzzle for Sharon and her family. The picture was sent to Sharon's Grandfather JOHN WILLIAM PARSONS after he arrived in Canada as a "Home Child". Written on the reverse side of the photo is " To my brother Jack, from Albert". Sharon believes that the uniform worn by the soldier in the photo is of the Leicestershire Regiment . Can anyone help with any leads or information please?

Photo BARLOW 1 Please contact KERRIE BLYTH at :- tarahill@southcom.com.au

This photograph is of Kerrie's G. G. G. Grandfather WILLIAM BARLOW, born 1802 Wigan, Lancashire, England . Died 1883 Swansea, Tasmania. This what Kerrie had to say about William and this picture.

"He was a Schoolmaster Sergeant in the RA (Royal Artillery) 1826-1841. He left England in circa 1851 and arrived in either New Zealand or Tasmania (I'm not sure which first).
This photo was not taken whilst he was in the R.A. (time period too early) and so I wonder if it was a volunteer regiment/unit out here at sometime. Various people have commented on the uniform so I am keen to see if anything further might come up. If anyone wants to read more about him I am still working on my web page at" :-

This really is a wonderful photograph and an intriguing subject don’t you think ? Can someone help Kerrie with any information please ?
