Photo PC 3 (4 sections)
This is another wonderful group image that was sent in by PETER COLE in Australia > pacole37@smartchat.net.au This photograph from 1917 was taken at KINGS COLLEGE, CAMBRIDGE, ENGLAND, and it depicts 207 Trainee Officers, possibly instructor-officers and N.C.O.'s. The trainee officers can be recognized by the white band on their headgear. Peters Father, BERTRAM COLE, can be in seen in section 3 C. (PC 3D) he is in the fifth row from the front and eighth from the right. Peter wrote "I have been told he joined the 1st Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment after this photo was taken, from there I think he went to Salonika as a Greek interpreter, as he spoke fluent Greek as well as French. The photo was definitely taken at King's College at Cambridge as I have checked with them and they agree that it is outside the College buildings. Unfortunately, they do not have any records of Army personnel who attended the University during World War One. Can you help Peter with any type of extra information about his Father, his Regiments or perhaps his comrades ? Do you recognise any of these soldiers ?
