Please contact David Baxendell at > DavidBax@xtra.co.nz David has some interesting questions regarding this historic photograph, this is what he wrote " The attached photo was taken by my Grandfather, who managed to lug a plate camera around Palestine. Family story and the pencilled notes on the back of the one surviving print indicate that this is of the unofficial relief of Jerusalem on Dec 9th 1917, 2 days prior to General Allenby entering the city. I understand that my Grandfather was a member of the RAMC. I have a photo of him on camelback with an armband (right) -cross on a white background I believe 10th Light Horse Regiment entered Jerusalem at this time. Q Is this correct? Q. Who are the officers in this picture? Q. Does anyone see anything to confirm or disprove this story?" Can anyone help David with opinion of or information about this photograph please ?To view a larger version of this image please click here >

Please contact Ron Rainford at > ronrnfrd@tpg.com.au Ron has a very interesting and unusual personal WW2 history and this first photograph is part one! This is what Ron wrote about it, "IT WAS INITIAL RAF RAINING AT RUISLIP , ENGLAND IN 1938. We all were 17 years of age. We finished our training 5 weeks before the outbreak of war. I NEVER MET ANY OF THEM AGAIN, BUT I WOULD BE VERY INTERESTED TO HEAR FROM THEM OR THEIR RELATIVES. We were all posted to different Squadrons. Just after the war broke out I went to 142 SQUADRON IN FRANCE. I am the tall one dead centre in the rear rank. In 1943 I was taken off flying because of alleged deteriorated eyesight and given a desk job which I hated. As the RAF was on top of the Luftwaffe by the end of the year it was decided that men could be spared to transfer to the Army to make up for expected casualties on D-day. I volunteered and, because of height, was sent to the GRENADIER GUARDS. All on the next photo except Officer and N.C.O.'s are ex RAF. " (Please see Photo RR 2 below) Well ! what an amazing story, can you put Ron in touch with any of his comrades ? Do you recognise anyone ?
