PHOTO DWA 1 Please contact Dawn Ward at :- wardnd@mpx.com.au This is what Dawn wrote about this portrait, "I am trying to trace the uniform on my husband's Great Grandfather FRANCIS PHILLIP TOMS. All I can remember is an old aunt saying "He was a member of the Queen's Own Guard". Some say the family came from Dorset, England and others that it was Cambridge, England. I think he was born around 1830 and by 1861 he was in Australia and married MARGARET, THE DAUGHTER OF A SIR HENRY DENNETT. Many blessings on anyone who can help"

This will not be an easy one as only part of the uniform is visible, but if this young man was an officer, and in perhaps circa 1855 ? is it possible that someone has him listed somewhere ? Perhaps you can suggest a possible avenue of research for Dawn ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
