Photo DBIER 2 Please contact Dawn Bierman at > bierman@shoalhaven.net.au Here is a little light relief ! This great photograph was sent to me by Dawn and this what she wrote about it, "This photo is of my Grandfathers sisters: Ester and Diana Bierman . Shown according to my uncle in WW1 uniforms. Vamping up I believe! "

The ladies are in WW1 uniform Dawn and I believe that the lady that is seated is wearing a cap badge of the Royal Artillery.

Photo PBYF 1 Please contact Peter Byford at :- pgb@bcs.org.uk This is what Peter wrote about this photograph, "This is my wife's Grandfather, JOHN YOXALL in his uniform in about 1915 (we think). We are not clear what uniform this might be , it's a bit of a hybrid, we are told. We think he was actually in charge of soldiers looking after troops returning from the front at a London Station. Any ideas for extra information would be very helpful".
Can you help Peter with any information please ?

Below this is a enlarged section of the soldiers cap and badge .

"The single photo is of CHARLES RANDALL ALLEN, some time between 1914-1921. "

"The other photo (BST0 2 below ) is Charles Randall Allen again but I don't know who the other soldier was. I would like to know if anyone recognises the uniforms, ranks etc."

NEWS Barbara received several e-mail messages regarding these photographs, this is one of the messages which was kindly sent by Phil Mc Carty "What I can tell you is that the unit is the Machine Gun Corps; Charles Allan is a Lance Corporal. The second picture must have been taken post-war (around, or even after 1919) as they are both wearing collar badges. These were expressly forbidden to 'other ranks' during the war. Charles Allan also has two 'good conduct' chevrons on his left sleeve in the second picture (point up) indicating 4 years service with good record. There is still, believe it or not, a Machine Gun Corps Old Comrades Association, but not many actual veterans left; mostly relations and family now. (I'm a member) Regards Phil Mc Carty"
