Photo RFIN 1 Please contact Richard Finn at rwfinn@pacbell.net This is what Richard wrote about this portrait, " This photograph came over to America in 1902 when my Grandfather's family moved to California. I do not know who the picture is of except that he must have been related to the FINN FAMILY OF CHILHAM, Kent, or the KITCHINGHAM FAMILY OF HARTLIP, Kent. As you can see from the photo it was taken in London. I would guess around the late 1890s or so. If anyone can identify the military unit this person is in we would be most thankful."
Can you help Richard with information please ?
News: The following was sent in by Chris Coogan, "The subject of the photo is a private of the Royal Marine Light Infantry [predecessors of today's Royal Marines] - scarlet tunic, dark blue facings, white piping, dark blue 'glengarry' forage cap. Uniform current about 1870s - 1895, but would place him in the early '1890s." Thank you Chris !

Please contact Daniel Yates at > dnyates@yahoo.co.uk This what Daniel wrote about the photograph,"Regrettably I can add no details as to names, regiment, etc. The photograph was purchased at an antiques centre in Lincolnshire and labelled as 'WW1 Group Photo'. Other than any help in identifying regiments/rank/etc I would be interested to know where people think the photo was taken - ie: in Britain, or as I am inclined to believe in France/Belgium pictured with two local people, possibly from where the men were billeted. The man on the lower left appears to have a cross badge on his arm - medical corps? Other than that, there appears to be a fair array of cap badges suggesting a mixed collection. Any suggestions which could add to the understanding of this fascinating photo would be welcomed" Do you recognise any of the people seen in the photo ? Can you help Daniel with any information what so ever ? To view a larger version of this image please click here > DYATE 1
