Please contact Alan Hepburn at > ahepbur1@npiec.on.ca This what Alan wrote about this picture, "This is an old photograph found in my father's collection. He is LAWRENCE H. HEPBURN, he was a Flight Lieutenant before his discharge. My Father is in the 3rd row from the back 4th from the left. The caption is A FLIGHT - NO.2 SQ. NO.1 RAF CADET WING. He left Canada in 1916 with the 109th Batt., transfered to 124th Overseas Battalion CEF at Witley, went to France Mar 1917, wounded 7th Apr. 1917, field dressed & sent to Wharncliffe War Hospital, Sheffield England. Recovered & discharged from hospital at Epsom 3rd Jul. 1917. Somehow he was transfered to RAF and became a pilot of a Sopwith Camel aircraft. His number was 724716. He was discharged 2nd Apr. 1919. I noticed a variety of uniforms in this picture and wondered if the men in this unit were volunteers from the army. I do not know anyone else in this picture. Can you help Alan with any other information please? Or do you perhaps recognise any of the other cadets or others seen on this photograph?I have spilt the larger version of this image into to halves for easier downloading.
