Photo JING 1 Please contact June Ingleby at ophelia@labyrinth.net.au June wrote " This photograph is of BILL HAINES/HAYNES cousin to my grandmother Elizabeth Ann Rice (née Lee) of Pleasley. Before enlisting in the army in WW1 he was a policeman. He was killed during the war. His mother was possibly Jane/Janet Lee who married a member of the Haynes family. Any information would be welcome, as I have been unable to establish the connection to the family" June also said that there were only two possibilities to be found on the CWGC web site and these were William Haynes - Corps of royal engineers - born Woodford Northants -
Enlisted Ilkeston Derbyshire - Residence Alfreton, Derbyshire - died
21/9/1916. John William Haynes - Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regt.) - who came from Pleasley - he died 28th June 1917...he was age 25....which makes appox. year of birth 1892. -----------------------

As the soldier seen here is almost certainly wearing the cap badge of the Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment I would think that this is indeed John William Haynes . Can someone confirm or deny the badge identification please.

Photo GCHIL 2 Please contact Gordon Childs at :-GordonChilds@compuserve.com . This is what Gordon wrote about this portrait, "This is of a FRANK W. LININGTON from Canada, taken circa 1914 just before leaving for Europe with the CANADIAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. His regimental number was 171721. He lost a leg at Vimy Ridge and returned to Canada and settled in Prince Rupert Island but was later known to be in Vancouver. Frank was the son of ERNEST BENJAMIN LININGTON who emigrated to Canada from the Isle of Wight in 1891. Frank died circa 1978 and I am trying to locate any of his descendants. "

Can you help Gordon with any information please?
