Please contact Joyce Jimmieson at :- joymar@bigpond.com.au This what Joyce wrote about this splendid portrait, "This photo is of my Grandfather's brother, ALBERT STRETTON who was born in LEICESTERSHIRE IN CIRCA 1879. The photo was taken by Robert Frost, Artist and Photographer, of Loughborough. Albert's rank and regiment is unknown. Would somebody be able to identify the uniform and give me any details of the Regiment. Many thanks "Although part of Joyce's family emigrated to Australia, it seems certain that Albert Stretton did not. I believe that Albert's uniform may well be that of The Imperial Yeomanry (circa 1899 - 1902).
Any help or advice would be gratefully received.

Please contact Patricia Leslie at :- trishel@bigpond.comPatricia sent in this WW1 photograph in the hope that someone might be able to help with an identification of the couple seen here. The soldier seen in the photograph is a Staff Sergeant of the ROYAL GARRISON ARTILLERY, and his surname is most probably BROWN.
Two possibilities for the soldiers identity are 1/ BERTRAM HECTOR BROWN (born 1893 in Stourbridge, England), and 2/ JOHN HECTOR BROWN (born Bellbroughton, 1891).
Can you can identify the soldier or the lady seen here, or offer any assistance to Patricia in her research please?

Please contact Andrew Barnett at buck_barnett@madasafish.com This brilliant photograph features bandsmen of the LEICESTERSHIRE REGIMENT (Possibly the 2nd Battalion) in circa 1916. Andy's Grandfather JOHN JACK PRICE , John Price is standing , in the 2nd row and 2nd from the left. John Price was a regular soldier who enlisted in circa 1911. He was very seriously wounded indeed in 1915 whilst on the Western Front. Apart from the very serious injuries he received, he also lost a finger on his right hand. He was obviously a very tough soldier and (as can be seen here) he eventually returned to his Regiment and even played in a Regimental band! . If you can help Andy with any information whatsoever about JOHN (JACK) PRICE or information about the three previous photographs on PAGE 84 these, he would be very grateful. To view a larger version of this photograph please click here > ANDB 4 (Warning! large file)
