PHOTO DW4 Please contact Dave Withers at, dave@withers1.co.uk This portrait is of JAMES ALBERT WORTHY who was born 14th November 1920. He is Dave Withers Great Uncle. Dave has no other details about his Uncle and would like to hear from anyone who could help with information or clues. The photograph may well be from the WW2 era but it could be of a slightly earlier date. The cap badge that James Worthy is seen to be wearing is something of a mystery to me, can anyone help with this please?

PHOTO DTOW 1 Please contact Don Townson at :-dontow@vtown.com.au This photograph from the WW1 era depicts a group of soldiers of THE ROYAL ENGINEERS. Don Townson's Father THOMAS TOWNSON can be seen in the second row, far left (seated). Don believes that the soldier seen seated on the ground and directly in front of his Father may also be a relative. Don would be very pleased if anyone could identify this soldier or indeed any of his Father's comrades. He believes that the photograph may have been taken between 1918 and 1920. As none of the soldiers are wearing medal ribbons it is possibly from 1918 or 1919? Do you have an opinion about the possible date please? All of the soldiers seen in the photograph are wearing the cloth badge (left sleeve) of the qualified signal (crossed flags). It is therefore possible that the soldiers were of the Royal Engineers Signal Service.

PHOTO LLANE 1 Please contact Elizabeth Lane at : - liz_lane@ntlworld.com Elizabeth sent in this great WW1 military hospital photograph/card which features her Grandfather JESSE BUXTON, born 30th December 1886, in Stoke-on-Trent. This what Elizabeth wrote about it, " in this picture - sent from my Grandfather to my Grandmother in 1916. (He is the soldier at the back on the right as we look at the photo).I have no idea which unit he served in, in the Army, but I think he got ill before he got abroad - they say he was in Kent at some stage, and we were told he had rheumatic fever. He became a Headmaster later, of BOOTHEN Church of England JUNIOR SCHOOL IN STOKE-ON-TRENT." Unfortunately, Elizabeth has no details about her Grandfather's war WW1 military service. Can you help? Perhaps you can identify one of his comrades or perhaps one of the Nurses seen in the photograph?
