Photo PGADD 3 Please contact Paul Gadd at :- FRANCISKickbo@aol.com This portrait is of Paul's Uncle, Private 14207002 GEORGE HENRY GADD of the 2/4th battalion The HAMPSHIRE REGIMENT. George Henry Gadd gave his life during the WW2 North Africa Campaign. This what Paul wrote about his late Uncle.

"My Uncle enlisted to the Hampshire Regiment on the 26th February 1942 at Chichester. The only info I have on his last campaign was, Pichon, Bou Arada. The following was taken from a book of the Hampshire Brigade and reads: "just before daylight on the 7th April 1943 after a 2 day journey by truck, followed by a wet march to the assembly area in cactus grove. The plan was for the 2/4th first to capture a wadi and then to take high ground above PICHON. At dusk the 1/4th and 2/4th battalions marched as silently as possible for 6 miles. Advancing on the village of Pichon, the battle started and by midday the village was taken. Through Pichon to the high ground on FONDOUK GAP, here the 5th battalion came under heavy mortar fire."

My uncle was wounded on the 8th April and died of his wounds on 4th July 1943 age 23. He was buried at El Alia, Algiers."

Paul would greatly appreciate any extra information that you could supply about his Uncle, or the Battle where he was mortally wounded. Below are the medals awarded to George Henry Gadd.

Photo SHEI 2 Please contact Sheila at :- Sam307M@aol.com This WW1 portrait is of ISHMAEL STEELE who was born in FENTON, Staffordshire in 1874. He emigrated from Cobridge, Staffordshire, between 1912-16, to FERNIE, British Columbia, Canada. Served with the CANADIAN OVERSEAS EXPEDITIONARY FORCE in the ARMY MEDICAL CORPS. Sheila thinks that it is quite possible that Ishmael died in California, USA.

Can you help with any other information please?
