Photo SHEI 6 Please contact Sheila at :- Sam307M@aol.com This group photograph is of WW1 soldiers of several Regiments and Countries. Five of the men are of the DUKE OF WELLINGTON'S (WEST RIDING) REGIMENT, including (back row, second from the left) JAMES HUCKMAN (see Photo Page 93). The other nine soldiers are from unknown Regiments, Corps etc. The armbands that some of the soldiers are wearing are unknown to me, but are similar? to the armbands worn by Staff H.Q. personnel during WW1.

Can you help with information or identification please?

Photo BOC 1 Please contact Brian O'Connor at:- bri.o.connor@blueyonder.co.uk

This is a World War Two era portrait of Brian's Father JOHN (JACK) O'CONNOR. This is what Brian wrote:- "He served in Africa and the middle east and I believe he was blown up, he had a war injury pension for deafness. My father died in 1960 aged 41 years he died from a skin cancer. If any of your older readers thinks that they may have known my father, John O'Connor (Jack) please get in touch. He may have served in the 8th Army, he learnt to drive while serving! He may therefore have driven lorries in the army transport, another possibility is he was in the tank corps or the infantry. The army war records office cannot trace his record without his regiment. (Despite charging me £20) My father grew up in the HOXTON AND CLERKENWELL areas of London and moved to TOTTENHAM before the outbreak of war. He and his parents lived at 5 Hartham Road Tottenham N17. I have found details of my grandfather, on a fire watch rota from 1942 (info was held at the archives in the Museum at Tottenham) His name was Patrick O'Connor his wife was Edith and they had several children including my father. It would mean a lot to me to find his war record or anyone who knew him. I believe he served in North Africa and Iraq or Iran during world war two. My father was born in 1919. Ps I have tried so many avenues, ex-army websites even the Veterans agency because he had a war injury pension. "

Brian has a wonderful web site "All Our Lives" at:- http://www.allourlives.org.uk
